The White House is the oldest building in Washington and has become home to all U.S. presidents except George Washington. The White House is located near the Mall, the site was chosen by George Washington and Pierrel'Enfant arhitect, creating projects for new capital. For the construction of the President House held a contest, which was won by James Hoban builder. Neo-classical building design was inspired by Leinster House in Dublin. The foundations of the building began in 1792, and took 8 years to complete. The inside of the house was renovated and remodeled over the years, in 1800, the building became home to Preisdent John Adams.
